Bad news for all Harry Potter fanatics. The release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the boy wizard’s 6th venture to the box office, has been pushed back from November 2008 to July 2009.
“Our reasons for shifting ‘Half-Blood Prince’ to summer are twofold,” Horn said in a statement Thursday. “We know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent-pole release, as proven by the success of our last Harry Potter film [released July 11, 2007], which is the second-highest-grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment.”
Here is the new trailer for the 6th film in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince." Actually it was unveiled online Tuesday night.
The main attraction is the fact that the character Tom Riddle, also known as the young Voldemort, makes his first appearance on the said series. He's played by Ralph Fiennes' nephew Hero Fiennes-Tiffin.
Radcliffe hopes the play about a troubled boy who blinds horses will be a hit in New York as it was in London. "If we can get a straight play to really succeed in a world of theatre that is so besieged by musicals, that would be a real achievement and I think the time is absolutely right to do it [in New York.]" Radcliffe made headlines this past summer during the eight-week London run of the play because of the nudity required for the part. But he also caught many critics eye, who praised Radcliffe for his talent on the stage. Richard Griffiths, who co-starred with Radcliffe in 'Equus' and the 'Potter' films, will be traveling across the pond for the New York debut as well.
