At the age of 23, Dayana Mendoza has reigned as Miss Venezuela & Miss Universe and traveled the world while fulfilling her duties as the official hottest woman in all of existence. Now the sultry South American’s reign is coming to an end, and she’s ready to do something her hectic schedule hasn’t allowed her to do in a year. Here are some of the excerpt of her interview in Maxim Magazine:
What was the reaction like in Venezuela when you won? Venezuela went 12 years not having a Miss Universe. They did, like, parades. In South America we’re big fanatics of pageants. My parents told me that when I won, cars were going through the streets honking like after a soccer match.
And when you got home, were people still going crazy? I saw all these Venezuelans with the little flags, and they were crying, and I was kind of crying as well. I really enjoyed how much happiness I could bring to so many people by winning. And I think we needed it in my country.

This is Valerie Concepcion’s second appearance as Maxim covergirl. She first appeared in Maxim Philippines on February of 2007. Valerie was hailed by the PMPC Star Awards for TV 2008 as the best female host for her stint at Wowowee.

PORMAL na inilunsad si Angel Locsin isa isang fashion show sa TriNoma nung Sabado nang gabi bilang pinakabagong celebrity endorser ng Folded & Hung. “I’m very happy na pinagkatiwalaan ako ng F&H na idagdag sa napakaganda at napaka-fabolous na family nila.
“Actually, kaya masaya ako sa F&H, kasi sakto siya sa style ko ngayon, eh. Kung gusto kong maging sexy, sexy ako. Kung gusto kong maging elegant, elegant ako. Kung gusto kong simple lang, puwede rin.
“So, perfect sa kahit anong mood, sa kahit anong event, sa kahit anong requirement. Kaya happy ako sa F&H talaga,” masayang bulalas ni Angel. Makikita na sa EDSA at sa iba pang major highways ang sexy F&H billboard ni Angel na topless siya, naka-pants lang at tinatakpan niya lang ng kanyang braso ang dibdib niya. Mabuti at napapayag siyang mag-pose nang ganu’n ka-daring? “Actually, biglaan lang ‘yun, eh. Wala kaming mga pegs. Ganyan mag-work ang F&H, parang sobrang genius nila, biglaan lang.
“Nung una na-tense ako, kasi hindi ko naman ginagawa ‘yon. Pero naisip ko, why not? Wala naman akong ginagawang masama at saka para sa akin, hindi pa siya daring.”
So, nakahanda siyang talbugan ang mga naunang endorsers ng F&H na sina Claudine Barretto at Maja Salvador?
“Walang ganung isyu. Kasi, sina Claudine at Maja, kahit hindi pa kami nagkakatrabaho, ‘pag nakakausap ko sila, okey naman sila sa akin. At sa tingin ko, kaya kami kinuha ng F&H, kasi meron kaming iba-ibang io-offer para sa brand at para sa mga tao. Kaya magkakaiba kami,” paliwanag ni Angel. So, hindi niya sinulot ang F&H kina Claudine at Maja?
“Paano ko naman susulutin? Ganun ba kadali ‘yon? Hindi naman ako nagbayad sa F&H para kunin ako, ‘di ba? Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
“Matagal nang plano to, before pa nung dating endorsement ko, nag-uusap na kami ng F&H at finally, natuloy na. Bale 1 ½ years ang kontrata ko sa kanila.” May isyu na galit daw si Claudine na basta na lang siyang umentra bilang bagong endorser ng F&H?
“Sa tingin ko hindi naman. Although, hindi pa kami nagkikita ni Ms. Claudine ngayon. Siguro, hindi naman. Sa akin siguro, ginagawan lang ng intriga ng mga tao. Kasi, siyempre, bagong parte ako ng family ng F&H. Pero wala namang ganun. Katulad nga nung sinabi ko, may kanya-kanya kaming io-offer for F&H. “And nirerespeto ko siya. Bago lang ako, bagong salta lang ako sa pamilya. Siya pa rin ang senior ko.
“Kini-clear ko po, karagdagan lang po ako rito. Wala po akong pinapalitan na kahit na sino.”
Usap-usapan ngayon ‘yung pagiging number 1 daw dapat ni Angel sa Sexiest Women poll ng FHM. May balitang siya raw ‘yung nangunguna sa botohan? Pero, biglang naiba at naungusan daw siya ni Marian Rivera. Anong reaksyon niya rito? “Ewan ko? Hindi naman kasi natin kontrolado kung sinong mananalo, kung sinong iboboto ng tao, ‘di ba? Basta ako, masaya ako. Parang ano ba ‘yan? Kailangan ba, kunin ko lahat?
“Happy ako at pinagkatiwalaan ako ng mga tao sa Maxim (na siya ang nag-number 1). Maraming salamat po sa mga boto niyo. At okey na ako roon. “Sa FHM, nagpapasalamat ako dahil doon ako nag-start. Pero nagawa ko na ‘yan 3 years ago pa. Bigyan naman natin ng chance ‘yung iba, ‘di ba?” dayalog ng aktres.
Ibig sabihin, hindi na niya inaambisyong mag-number 1 sa FHM? “Para sa akin, mas importante ‘yung mga taong naniniwala sa akin. Mas may importansiya sa akin ‘yon,” sabi ni Angel.
So, hindi isyu sa kanya kung si Marian ang tanghaling Sexiest Woman ng FHM this year?
“Hindi! Sa totoo lang, hindi. Natatawa na nga lang ako dahil feeling ko, maski siya, kung tatanungin siya, hindi rin isyu sa kanya, eh. Parang nakakatuwa lang na ganun ‘yung pag-iisip ng mga tao. Pero, thank you po. Salamat sa lahat ng bumoto at naniwala sa akin.”
Malapit nang magwakas ang teleseryeng Lobo nina Angel at Piolo Pascual. Nag-extend pa raw sila ng taping days para sa pagtatapos ng nasabing serye. Ayon kay Angel, masaya siya na matatapos na ang show na pinaghirapan nila. Aniya, ito raw ang soap opera na kapag binalikan niya after 10 years ay magiging proud siya na ginawa niya.
Malungkot din daw si Angel dahil mami-miss niya ‘yung mga katrabaho niya na naka-bonding na niya nang husto.
Samantala, may isyu na meron daw silang gap ni Piolo dahil nagkakabilangan daw ng mga eksena sa Lobo?
“Actually, magkasama kami kanina sa Wowowee at sa E-Live. So, paano? How? Sa akin, parang hindi ko na dapat sagutin. Kasi, nakikita niyo naman ‘pag nanonood kayo ng Lobo. Kayo na na lang po ang bahalang mag-judge.” Isyu ba ‘yun kung sino ang mas maraming eksena sa kanila ni Piolo?
“Hindi isyu ang maraming eksena. Actually, mas okey nga ‘yon, kasi nakakapag-rest ka ‘pag wala kang masyadong eksena, eh. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! “Pero hindi ‘yon isyu. Kung sinuman ang gumagawa ng isyu, kung kanino man nanggagaling ‘yon, eh bahala na po sila,” huling sambit ni Angel.
Willie Revillame's angels will be the covergirl of Maxim Magazine this coming April 2008, the trio says that they are not competing with any sexy stars and it's a pleasure for them to grace the cover of Maxim considering the fact, that Maxim's editorial team is so strict in choosing their covergirls.
