American Idol 2008: Ramiele Malubay - Do I Ever Cross Your Mind

Ramiele Malubay performs "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" by Dolly Parton during the Final 9 American Idol Episode on April 1st 2008.

Ramiele Malubay - Do I Ever Cross Your Mind

Oh, sometimes I go walking through fields where we walked
Long ago in the sweet used to be
And the flowers still grow, but they dont smell as sweet
As they did when you picked them for me
Chorus:

And when I think of you and the love we once knew
How I wish we could go back in time
Do you ever think back on old memories like that
Or do I ever cross your mind

Do you ever wake up lonely in the middle of the night
Because you miss me, do you darling
Oh, and do your memories ever take
You back into another place in time
And do you ever miss the feelings
And the love we shared when you were with me, tell me darling
Or do I ever cross your mind

Oh, how often I wish that again I could kiss
Your sweet lips like I did long ago
And how often I long for those two loving arms
That once held me so gentle and close

Repeat chorus

American Idol 2008 Results: Final Eleven, Who Got Voted Off?

The final eleven performed on Tuesday night on American idol. It was almost predictable and it appears now that it is almost simple to divide the remaining contestants into two categories, the top level or the A-list singers and the second level or the B-list singers. The guys have a lot more talent this season than the ladies but there are two stand out female performers.

Carly Smithson will be a solid contestant throughout, she has a great voice and a cute accent and she should make the top five. Brooke White is just as good, but in a different way. She has a career ahead of her in music and I love her folksy look and sound. Her personality is infectious.

For the guys it is two Davids and a Michael. David Cook seems like the strongest all around performer of the competition. He can sing and play the guitar and has that rock edge that was so badly missing from last season. Michael Johns is very talented but so far has underperformed and will need to step up to keep up with Cook.

David Archuleta is a cute kid and has a great voice and he has already captured the tweens that watch this show. That means big votes and a top three finish. If you don't think that is important, check out Miley Cyrus and her concert sales and you will get it.

The others Jason Castro, Kristy Lee Cook, Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, Chikizie and Amanda Overmyer are all in the bottom half and tonight it will be evenly divided. Out of those I believe that only Jason Casto has the shot to move up, and he is getting better each week. He ma pass Michael Johns at some point.

Now on to the show, reports are in from the east coast feed of the show and there is already one stunner. First, Brooke White is safe as is David Archuleta and Michael Johns. But one from the A-list hits the bottom three, Carly Smithson and all of the judges believe America got it wrong.

Update I: The next four results are in and there are no stunning results here. David Cook is as is safe Jason Castro and Ramiele Malubay. Kristy Lee Cook is again in the bottom three.

Update II: Carly is safe and Kristy Lee is safe and Amanda Overmyer is done. She has been voted off of American idol.

American Idol 2008 Results: David Hernandez Voted Off!

The American Idol top twelve results show kicked off with a promotional segment for the “Horton Hears A Who” movie. Ryan Seacrest revealed that over twenty-nine million votes were cast for the top twelve finalists. Seacrest also pointed out comedian Jim Carrey in the audience. Carrey was dressed up as an elephant and provided some additional plugs for the “Horton Hears A Who” movie. Carrey is the voice of the elephant Horton in the movie.

The top twelve American Idol 7 finalists performed a group song of Beatles melodies. After a recap of the top twelve performance show, Ryan Seacrest asked Carly Smithson, Michael Johns, Jason Castro, and Syesha Mercado to stand up. Seacrest revealed that Carly, Michael, and Jason were safe, but Syesha was in the bottom three. Seacrest called Syesha down to center stage, where Syesha gave another performance of “Got To Get You Into My Life.”

After the Ford music video, Seacrest introduced a segment on how much the contestants’ lives had changed since becoming a part of American Idol. Seacrest asked Chikezie, Amanda Overmyer, David Cook, and Kristy Lee Cook to stand up. Seacrest revealed that Chikezie, Amanda, and David were all safe, but Kristy was in the bottom three. Seacrest told Kristy to grab the microphone, and Kristy gave another performance of “Eight Days A Week.”

During call-in questions from American Idol viewers, Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell were asked why they didn’t just duke it out on stage. Seacrest responded, “I say load in the mud, I’m ready.” Another viewer asked Simon Cowell if America or England had the most singing talent, Simon Cowell conceded that American singers had the most talent, but on the judges’ panel Simon said the Brits were better. Katherine McPhee and David Foster performed “Something.”

After shooing Jim Carrey away from the contestants’ section, Ryan Seacrest called David Archuleta, Brooke White, David Hernandez, and Ramiele Malubay to center stage. Seacrest revealed that David Archuleta, Brooke, and Ramiele were safe, but David Hernandez was in the bottom three. David Hernandez gave another performance of “I Saw Her Standing There.”

Seacrest called the bottom three of Syesha Mercardo, Kristy Lee Cook, and David Hernandez to center stage. Seacrest asked the judges if America selected the right bottom three. Randy Jackson said that it was probably the right bottom three, Paula Abdul said that she had never seen a stronger bottom three, and Simon Cowell said America was spot on. After hearing from the judges, Seacrest revealed that Syesha was safe. Seacrest announced, “After twenty-nine million votes, America has decided that Kristy you are safe.” David Hernandez was eliminated from the competition.

American Idol's Ramiele Malubay Scandal

Ramiele Malubay Scandal

Ramiele Malubay Scandal. The latest season of the popular talent show American Idol is proving to be more than just singing and scornful Simon Cowell remarks. Recently, it's also about scandals and stunning revelations on the background of its roster of contestants.

That includes Filipino-American Ramiele Malubay.

According to reports, controversial photos of Ramiele are currently popping up in cyberspace, showing the 20-year-old talent grabbing the breast of a co-worker in a sushi bar. Fox News reported that there's another photo where, this time, the hand of Ramiele's friend was caught placed on her breast.

People think the revealed photos may either strengthen or weaken Ramiele's chances going on to the final stretch of the contest. "If you're hated, you're doing something right," wrote Ramiele when asked to list down her favorite quote on her profile.

But Ramiele's issue paled in comparison to the scandal faced by another semi-finalist named David Hernandez. The Associated Press recently reported that David used to be a gay-club stripper rendering lap dances on mostly male patrons.

The report said that David was employed at Dick's Cabaret, a club joint located in Phoenix, for three years.

Speaking to AP, Dick's Cabaret manager Gordy Bryan was quoted saying: "He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here."

Based on his employment record, it was found that David last reported at Dick's Cabaret on September 30, 2007. He never renewed his state license.

If there's any good news for Ramiele and David, it seems they will both stay on American Idol despite the controversies hounding them—until they are voted out of the show, of course.

Ramiele and David are still in the competition and are expected to sail through the Final 12.

American Idol Eliminates 4 more contestants

Four more aspiring singers failed to convince viewers that they have what it takes to win the star-making talent contest "American Idol."

The voting public cut loose Alaina Whitaker, Jason Yeager, Robbie Carrico and Alexandrea Lushington, trimming the number of contestants to 16 Thursday night.

Whitaker, a 16-year-old from Tulsa, Okla., let out a sob after she heard the result.

"Sorry, this is so embarrassing," she told host Ryan Seacrest, who consoled her with a hug.

The other "Idol" female contestants gathered on stage to lend moral support to Whitaker as she gave a final performance of "Hopelessly Devoted to You." Several contestants wiped away tears.

"You are a gifted, bright young talent. ... This is the start of an amazing career from you," said judge Paula Abdul, who gave Whitaker a standing ovation.

Simon Cowell wasn't surprised by Yeager's exit.

"Your problem — quite simply — is that you don't stand out in the crowd at the moment," the cranky judge told Yeager, a 28-year-old single dad from Grand Prairie, Texas.

Cowell told Carrico, who sang Foreigner's "Hot Blooded," that his rocker act "just never ever felt real." Carrico, 26, from Melbourne, Fla., was part of the pop group Boyz N Girlz United.

Lushington, a 17-year-old Douglasville, Ga., resident (and a snappy dresser and favorite of judge Randy Jackson's), displayed a lack of confidence Wednesday, acting sheepish and uncomfortable onstage, following her cover of Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now." Jackson said the '70s song didn't suit her youthful style.

A standout this week was 17-year-old David Archuleta, who sang a soulful cover of "Imagine."

Brooke White, 24, also scored a glowing review from Cowell for her bare-bones performance of "You're So Vain."

Cowell joked he thought the song was about him.

"American Idol," now running three times a week, will return to a twice-weekly schedule March 11 for the elimination of the final dozen. The decision-making finale will be held in May.

On the Limelight Series: David Archuleta

David Archuleta American Idol
David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990 in Miami, Florida) is an American singer and "Top 16" contestant, and amongst the top eight male vocalists, on American Idol's seventh season as of the moment.

They say David Archuleta has the biggest chance in bringing home the 'American Idol' title.

At the age of 12, Archuleta won the Junior Singers competition on Star Search.

David Archuleta American Idol

Archuleta started singing when he was six because he was inspired by a Les Misérables 10th-anniversary video he was watching, "That musical is what started all of this." He started performing for others at the age of ten, when he participated in the Utah Talent Competition with the song "I Will Always Love You", by Dolly Parton, receiving a standing ovation, and winning the kid division. This later led to his competing in the Star Search reality show as well as appearing on The Jenny Jones Show and CBS' The Early Show as well as meeting the finalists from American Idol 1. He once suffered partial vocal paralysis but refrained from risky surgery and feels he has fully recovered.

Archuleta lives in Murray, Utah and is a student at Murray High School. If his bid to become the next American Idol fails he plans to continue school and keep singing. The only regular job he has had was over the summer of 2007 as a sound "techie" at a park amphitheater

David Archuleta American Idol

In 2003, at the age of 12, Archuleta sang on several episodes of the television show Star Search. He ended up winning grand prize on Star Search 2. On one episode, he sang against then 13-year-old Alexandréa Lushington, who was a "top 20" semi-finalist on American Idol alongside Archuleta.

David Archuleta American Idol

Archuleta won his ticket to the Hollywood final auditions at the San Diego tryouts held at Qualcomm Stadium - July 30 & July 31, 2007. He was still only sixteen during the Hollywood auditions and, along with other contestants not yet 18, will have to go to school ("doing schoolwork in the morning and then come onto the stage and then go back to the schoolwork") while a part of American Idol's seventh season.

David Archuleta American Idol

His parents are also on hand, likely because he's a minor.Archuleta is considered to be one of the frontrunners for his series of exceptional performances. After his rousing rendition of "Imagine", all three judges praised his abilities with Paula Abdul citing as one of the most "moving performances [she had] ever heard." Entertainment Weekly critic Michael Slezak stated that Archuleta "[has] shown more star quality and stage presence in two weeks of performances than all the other male constestants combined."

David Archuleta American Idol

awww, he's so cute! love his smile so A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.
hope he win! ooopps...
i'm still rooting for Ramiele.LOL

Ramiele Malubay's Top 24 Performance on AI 7 (Video)

I know this is late to post, but i like her performance in this vid she sang "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me". Ramiele had already a bunch of lovers ands haters alike.

Some people are commenting on Filipinos being too overbearing that Ramiele is a pinoy, not minding the fact that this is still "American Idol" and she definitely needs the Americans to vote for her.

Some fans hated the Pinoys for saying "Ramiele is Pinoy, Ramiele is Pinoy, i'll vote for her"labeled her Pinoy for to prove that Pinoys are the best in the world. they say they read that kind of comments a thousand times on AI forum.

& i agree to some point, we should all support her without being too offensive on the others, i know she's a pinoy and we're all proud of her but she's on "American Idol" and not Philippine Idol.

American Idol 7 First Cut Results: Colton Berry & Garrett Haley is Eliminated,

For the girls, it was bye bye to Amy and Joanne, and we’re not really sure who else was in the bottom 3 but it looks like Amanda and Kristy were in danger as well. This pretty much played out how it should’ve. I didn’t have anything against Joanne but she just wasn’t memorable.

And for the boys, Colton and Garrett were eliminated, with Chikezie also being in danger. No one is shocked about Garrett, he seemed like a nice kid though. But I’m more surprised about Colton than I probably should be. He fell into the “decent” range on Tuesday and certainly didn’t deserve to get kicked off, but he would’ve gone eventually so I suppose it doesn’t really matter.

Scratch that, yes it does. Because now we’re stuck with awful AceBot 2.0 Luke and boring as a box of rocks Jason Yeager for another week. Is the world really this cruel? Getting 3/4 of my predictions right isn’t too bad but one of those guys has got to go!

And I told you guys Chikezie would be safe! Oh, and this also breaks the chair curse (when the last two to make the top 24 leave the week before the top 12) except they still went home together, hmmm….

That’s all for this week. Can’t wait to find out what next weeks craptastic theme is.

American Idol 7 First Cut Results: Joanne Borgella & Amy Davis is Eliminated, Ramiele Malubay Is In!

To kick off the first American Idol 7 results show, Ryan Seacrest exchanged witty banter with the judges. Paula Abdul attempted to subtly address the raging Carly Smithson controversy. Abdul said, “These kids are talented. It’s a savvy business. If they haven’t already tried to make a

name for themselves, they don’t deserve to be in this competition.”

After a video segment set to music from former American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, the American Idol top twenty-four performed a group song of melodies from the sixties. After a recap of the American Idol top twelve boys’ performance show, Seacrest called Garrett Haley to center stage. Seacrest said, “It’s tough to say goodbye to anybody tonight, and tonight I have to say goodbye to you.” Before leaving, Garrett gave a farewell performance of “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do.”

After a recap of the American Idol top twelve girls’ performance show, Ryan Secrest called Kristy Lee Cook to center stage. After telling Kristy that she was safe, Seacrest said, “The person leaving us tonight unfortunately is Amy Davis.” Before leaving, Amy gave a farewell performance of “Where The Boys Are.”

After an airing of Paula Abdul’s video “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow,” Ryan Seacrest called Joanne Borgella and Amanda Overmyer to center stage. Seacrest said, “America voted, and Amanda you are safe. You’ll be back, which means Joanne leaves us tonight on American Idol.” Before leaving, Joanne Borgella gave a farewll performance of “I Say A Little Prayer.”

Ryan Seacrest called Chikezie and Colton Berry to center stage. Seacrest said, “It’s tough guys. One of you has to go. That person is Colton.” When Seacrest asked Simon Cowell for his feedback, Cowell said, “I would say get a good job, and seriously enjoy singing, because I don’t think you’ll make a successful career out of it.” Before leaving, Colton Berry gave a farewell performance of “Suspicious Minds.”

American Idol: Top 24 Girls Review

Tonight it was the girls turn to take the American Idol stage by storm! Buuuut it was more like drizzle.

Kristy kicked off the show with “Rescue Me” looking like a plastic Barbie doll…although Barbie would never wear those hideous jeans. That’s a song I wouldn’t have expected her to sing but she did give it a teeny bit of a country feel, which was smart. She wasn’t as boring as I expected her to be but as Simon said, it was robotic and she could use a bit more charisma.

I hope she at least saved pictures of that horse….

Next up, Joanne singing “Say A Little Prayer For You”. I didn’t think it was awful, her voice is good but still, we’re missing that X Factor. Just moving an inch on the stage would’ve helped. BUT I have to say I love what she’s wearing! The top half, at least, is totally on point.

I’m still shocked that Alaina managed to weasel her way into the Top 24 with “I Love You More Today Than Yesterday”, and this time again it was actually recognizable! Vocally, she’s better than what she showed us in her audition but I couldn’t begin to laugh at Simon’s obvious bias. She did show up the first two, but the girl wasn’t nearly THAT good and he was just about falling all over her. Puh. leeze.

Amanda sang “ereigoew eijfew fdspb freiw werw”…… Seriously, I couldn’t understand most of what she was singing. The band did a good job though? I won’t say I’m surprised that the judges gave her a tonguebath, because I’m not at all, but it kind ruins their credibility a bit if you ask me.

If she sticks around long, she’s gonna get old FAST.

Out of all the times we’ve heard Amy sing, I don’t think she’s ever been able to hold a note. So I guess that pretty much summs it up. She chose “Where the Boys Are”, which has been done before (and better) but I still think it’s a poor song to choose.

I love Brooke. She took “So Happy Together” and didn’t have to turn it on it’s ear to totally make it her own, and it was absolutely the right song for her. I just love her whole vibe; she sings with feeling and doesn’t have to belt to get her point across.

Oh and I always love her style!

Alexandrea sang “Spinning Wheel”, which was such a great song choice; I love when people step outside their genre, surprise us and make the song their own. What a great start! Her vocals weren’t 100% perfect but she at least showed some range (although her high notes sound a bit thin). Of course, Simon had to whine about it. Ugh, Simon is so simple minded; he liked Alaina but not this? Someone does not appreciate originality.

Kady sang “Groovy Kind of Love” and I never knew this song was sold, but I guess the word “groovy” should’ve been a clue. I’m not a fan of hers, but I think the judges were soooo far off on their critique here. Simon was talking about how he wanted to see a good vocal performance, and then he gets one but can’t even compliment her on that? All he can do is whine about her not being “fun” on a SERIOUS song?? Whatever.

She should learn to handle criticism a bit better though.

Ugh, I’m sick of hearing “Piece of My Heart” on this show. I also don’t particularly care for Asia’h’s voice but she can sing, for sure. So far it seems that she’s the only one who can actually perform and is fun on stage.

“You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me” is yet another song I’m tired of hearing on Idol but Ramiele sang it the best. That girl can REALLY sing. It’s just a shame that that song doesn’t build more, otherwise it probably would’ve just blown us all out of the water.

Syesha sang “Tobacco Road”, a song that Phil massacred last year. I like that she chose something we wouldn’t exactly expect from her, because she could probably sing anything. She did her belty thing, of course, which is another thing that will get old for me at least, but every season needs a diva. Compared to the girls in the first half of the show, this looks reeeaaaaal good.

Carly gets the pimp spot! BIG surprise there (or not) but I have no idea why. I have no idea what she sung, but it was a terrible song and she didn’t do any justice for it. And still, all she does is strain and yell; there’s nothing natural about her voice. Randy must be DEAF if he thinks that was the best vocal, and that’s such a slap in the face to the other contestants.

THANK GOD FOR SIMON! Seriously, thank you Simon for not giving into that ridiculousness, ugh.

Rank

1. Ramiele
2. Brooke
3. Asia’h
4. Alex
5. Syesha
6. Kady
7. Alaina
8. Kristy
9. Carly
10. Joanne
11. Amy
12. Amanda

Tough ranking tonight. Based on vocals alone, Kady and Alaina were two of the best but others brought it better performance wise. Ramiele was the only one who had both so she wins.

And I have to give round 1 to the guys. None of the girls bombed as bad as a few of the guys last night, I’ll give them that, but the whole night was sort of on one boring note. None of them topped the best performances from the night before! I think they’re going to drop like flies when we get to the top 12.

Predictions

Should Go: Amy & Amanda
Will Go: Amy & Joanne

Kristy is in danger as well.

Our Very Own Ramiele Malubay, Makes it to Top 50 on American Idol 7!

For American Idol 7 Hollywood week, one hundred and sixty-four contestants from the auditions traveled to Hollywood to sing in front of the judges for a spot in the top fifty. During the first two days of Hollywood week, every contestant got a chance to sing without the fear of getting cut. Contestants were either put straight through to the final day of Hollywood week or given a chance to sing for their lives in a second round.

For the first time ever, contestants were allowed to play instruments during

Hollywood week. Brooke White was the first contestant to take advantage of this opportunity by playing a keyboard while she sang. The gamble paid off for Brooke, as all three judges were impressed and sent her straight through to the final day of Hollywood week.

Lorena Pinot, Amy Flynn, Leo Marlowe, Alisha Dixon, Michael Sanfilippo, Alysa Coco, and Shaun Barrowes did not fair as well and were told they would need to compete in the second chance round. Jake Mellema played drums, and Simon Cowell said, “It was a horrible, horrible song choice. It was a horrible, horrible presentation. There was absolutely nothing redeeming in it, other than that we stopped it early.”

David Hernandez sang “Love The One You’re With,” and Simon Cowell called it one of the best auditions that they had heard all day. A week before Hollywood week Amanda Overmyer was in a major car wreck. Amanda sang “Light My Fire.” Amanda received a pass to the final round from the judges. Buck Smith, Cardin McKinney, Natashia Blach, Ghaleb Emachah were all told that they would have to try again in the second chance round.

Josiah Leming sang and played keyboard. Simon Cowell said, “I think out of all the auditions, this is the one I’m going to remember.” Josiah received a unanimous vote from the judges to go straight through to the final day. Danny Noriega, Ramiele Malubay, Carly Smithson, Michael Johns, David Cook, Robbie Carrico, and Colton Berry also earned passes to the final day. Jessica Brown, Perrie Cataldo, Syesha Mercado, Kyle Ensley were all told they would have to sing in the second chance round. In all, forty-eight contestants got a free pass to the final round.

One hundred and sixteen contestants competed in the second chance round. Suzanne Toon, Perrie Cataldo, Amy Flynn, and Angela Martin were some of the contestants cut, while Kristy Lee Cook and Jeffrey Lampkin made it to the final day.

On the final day of auditions, contestants sang with three background singers. David Archuleta, Kyle Ensley, Syesha Mercado, Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, and A’siah Epperson all made it to the top fifty. Jeffrey Lampkin, Joey Catalano, and Brooke Helvie were three of the contestants cut.

Josiah Leming, who had stood out in the first round, gave the final audition of Hollywood week. A behind-the-scenes segment showed that Josiah’s practice with the band had not gone well, and he had less than two hours of sleep. For his audition, Josiah asked the band to leave so that he could take the stage by himself. Josiah Leming sang “Stand By Me.” The judges were not impressed and called it his weakest audition. Even though Josiah faltered on his final performance, the judges put him through based on his previous performances.

On the next episode of American Idol, the judges will narrow the contestants down from fifty to the top twenty-four semi-finalists.

Ramiele Malubay , Another Filipino-American on American Idol

ramiele malubay

Another Pinay makes it to the AI 7! Ramiele Malubay, 19, from Miramar, Florida shows that just because she’s small in size(she's 4'11) , doesn’t mean her voice isn’t powerful. Quite the opposite.

Ramiele Malubay, who wants to be the first Asian-American Idol, sang....

“Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin in this “American Idol 7″ Miami audition and got the go-ahead to the Hollywood round by all three judges.
